What town has a better name for a Chesterton Society than Bethlehem, Pennsylvania? There must, therefore, be a Chesterton Society here. Since it does not yet exist, I am forming it. I have no idea quite how I am going to go about this endeavor, but I have been told that a love of Chesterton, a little advertising, a place to meet, and some beer are all that is needed.
There is now a mailing list for the Bethlehem Chesterton society. If you are interested, please sign up. There are no set topics for the mailing list, but it will be helpful, if nothing else, to see how many people are interested and to get an idea of when will be convenient for people to meet.
I also intend to properly affiliate with the American Chesterton Society, and even to get a membership in it myself. This is still all quite tentative, but the thing will not be done at all unless someone does it, and I have learned that the best way to get a project started is to start it. Better still is to get other people interested, but even that is secondary to an actual beginning. Thus this entire page will soon be replaced by something much better. I would think that a picture of Chesterton would be appropriate. Perhaps the picture from What's Wrong With the World in which Chesterton looks "like a depressed hairdresser" would do nicely.
So anyway, if you're interested, please let me know. We can make this happen.
